LAST MINUTE HALF TERM BREAKS
After weeks in school the children will be longing to escape the confines of the classroom and get outside in the fresh air. Where better than a farm? Admittedly we cannot promise you sunshine and hot weather but in our experience that’s never stopped children enjoying themselves. For kids there’s nothing better than pulling on their wellies and waterproofs and splashing around in puddles. How often do you take your children for a walk and ask them to avoid the puddles and not get their clothes dirty. So imagine the thrill they will get when you let them jump in puddles, pick up stones, paddle in the streams in their wellies and look for bugs under rocks and fishing about in ponds.
If they get all muddy you can hose down their waterproofs, strip them off and put them in the bath or shower and put their clothes in the washing machine ready to repeat the fun the next day!
In the morning they can grab a bucket and join Farmer Rob’s feeding rounds. An hour of animal magic where the children get up close to animals. Cwtch with the chickens, hug the donkeys, bucket feed the goats and play with the pigs. Children of all ages benefit from helping with the animals. Children gain confidence, enjoy the experience and make new friends as they work together to tend all the animals in the mornings.
So, the weather might not be tropical but February half term can be a great time for a holiday in Wales. Yes it might rain but so long as you bring wellies and waterproofs there are endless adventures to be had. Like paddling in the sea in wellies, flying a kite on the beach, climbing to the top of Carreg Cennen Castle or joining in half term activities at The National Botanic Gardens or NT Dinefwr or may be catch a ride on the steam train at Gwili Railway and we’ve also got some fabulous places to eat in Carmarthenshire
